I pray to serve in Thailand 6-12months

I am just back from Thailand tonight!!!

I love my family, my mother, my brother, and my triune God!! And because God loves me first, and my family loves me first!!!

I pray hard that I can serve my Lord, and the Thai village people for 6-12months with the heart felt support of my family. The biggest obstacle is my family's consent, my mother's worriness, and my brother's resentment of my devotion to religion and my God rather than our family. I feel so unhappy and upset even to the stage of vomitting regarding my brother's resentment, which is also true and delicately true in my attitude towards my family and my beloved God.

I am especially wanting to serve Buriram and to work with Ajaan Sutin in the Banbu church and the teachers and students there for their development (English, mentality), and their spirituality and closeness and eagarness in God my Father.

I pray for the ministry of Aj Sutin at the Banbu church, and the growth and unity of church members to serve and contribute to their own Banbu church!!!

主的工作在Buriram透過Aj Sutin在這十多年的耕耘, 由開始的三年沒有一個人信主, 到由Aj Sutin的70多歲母親開始信主到現在共68人洗禮, 實在滿有美麗神蹟, 我也由衷的敬佩Aj Sutin對主的依靠和忠心。Aj Sutin最想最需要的, 是求神睗Banbu Church一名宣教士, 與他同工, 收取及牧養主的兒女。

在這短短的五天在Buriram的服侍, 我不斷渴想在此長一點時間服侍的圖畫, 以及所會遇到的困難和挑戰。我當時看不到時間上的可能性, 我只是好想好想可以有6-12個月在泰國鄉村, 特別是Buriram服侍。 這是因為當我聽學校的老師和Aj Sutin的分享, 我就更明白福音的契機和牧養的需要。 當然, 我也知道是因為我很愛這個地方, 這裏的簡樸, 以及讓我看到很多我目前在繁華生活中的執著是沒甚意義的, 對能放開一切來到這裏更加享往。

我懇求主為我在家人心裏開路, 信主, 心裏安然支持我在泰國鄉村以教學英文服侍主的羊, 當地人和協助當地教會。

Buriram Language

KHMER, NORTHERN [KXM] 1,000,000 (1991 SIL). Northeastern Thailand, mainly Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Korat Provinces. Austro-Asiatic, Mon-Khmer, Eastern Mon-Khmer, Khmer. Dialects: BURIRAM, SURIN, SISAKET. Different from Central Khmer. Dialects are intelligible with each other. 50% to 75% literate. Typology: SVO; prepositions; genitives, modifiers, relatives after noun heads; 1 prefix; CV, CVC, CCV; non-tonal. Scrub forest. Plains. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate, 'How students, whose first language is denied in a formal education setting, adjust to learning Standard Thai?' The Benjakam-Wittayalai Elementary School is located in the Muang District of Buriram, Thailand. The school population consisted of 470 students and 18 teachers, about 90% of whose local population are North-Khmer speakers. These students spent seven hours a day emerged in a Standard Thai language classroom. Their first language is a dialect of Thai.

There were seven groups of selected participants. How these participants shared their personal language experiences in the use of both languages, and what difficulties they encountered in adjusting to learning Standard Thai in a school was investigated. Multiple data collection sources were used. A bilingual research assistant was employed to aid in the study. All data were transcribed by the researcher. The responses were coded into the following five themes which emerged during the analysis process: (1) Standard Thai is regarded as a measurement of student success and status both academically and personally. (2) Both the schools and the students have significant financial problems impeding the learning of Standard Thai. (3) Attitudes and values exist toward the use of both languages inside and outside the school that affect student expectations and language performance. (4) Respect and reverence for the local culture contributed to resistance in acquiring Standard Thai. (5) The impact of learning Standard Thai on the relationships among teachers, students, and family members in both the schools and home environments varied.

The question of dialect education was investigated. Academic instruction should continue to be in Standard Thai, but special attention should be provided to help the students optimally learn Thai as their second language, rather than learn Thai as the native language. The purpose for the introduction of Standard Thai into the schools was to help the students enter the formal education system, and to adjust to learning Standard Thai with a sense of national and regional pride in their spoken language.

Province of Buri Ram บุรีรัมย in Chang-wat

Buriram means a city of happiness. It is located in the Northeast of Thailand, between Nakhorn Ratchasima and Surin Provinces. It is about 400 kilometers from Bangkok.

There are many interesting places here such as Phanom Rung Stone Castle, Muang Tam Stone Castle, Wat Khao Angkarn, Suan Nok Bird Sanctuary and Zoo Park, Ban Hin Dat Rock Fields, the Ban Gruad ancient kilns, and hundreds of sites of former settlements located along the various rivers which flow through the provincial areas.

Phanom Rung Stone Castle is a well-known place in Buriram, located on the top of an extinct volcano. Phanom Rung castle is about 1,000 years old and is the oldest Hindu temple located in Thailand. Its more famous sister structure, the Anghor Wat which is located at Siam Riep in Cambodia, was built more than a hundred years after the Phanom Rung. It was constructed of laterite (a volcanic rock) and pink sand-stone.

Every April (the exact date depends on the lunar calendar) a parade is held in the morning and a spectacular light and sounds festival involving hundreds of actors and actresses is conducted at night. The show depicts the history of Phanom Rung. Phanom Rung castle is the home to the very famous Naraibuntomsin lintel. Another similar structure which is about four kilometers from Phanom Rung is Muang Tam Stone Castle, located on the lower part of the hill. It is also very beautiful place to take photographs.

Wat Khao Angkarn is a temple, first built in the Age of Davaravadee; it was made of basalt stone. There are several mural paintings with descriptions provided in English. You should come to visit and you will learn for yourself how beautiful they are.

In 1679, war broke out between Korat and Narong cities. The King of Siam sent Prince Chakri (who later assumed the name King Rama I-- the first ruler of the Chakri Dynasty which continues to rule Thailand to the present time) to negotiate a settlement between the warring factions. After finishing his job of making peace, Prince Chakri moved his army farther and found a place, which he thought, was very appropriate to become the site of a new town; therefore, he ordered a town to be built there and gave it the name, "Muang Pae". Later, during the reign of King Rama V, the town became known as Buriram.

Buriram is a sizable provincial capital city of the province by the same name, and consisting of 21 districts and 2 sub-districts. There is a growing number of restaurants, shops, tourist attractions, and conveniences. The city of Buriram has a population around 210,000.
